Benefits of Routine Booth Maintenance

One of the simplest things you can do for the cleanliness and overall productivity of your paint booth is replacing intake and exhaust filters on a routine basis. Clogged or overloaded filters hinder proper airflow. This causes dust or overspray to recirculate in the booth, impacting the finish of your paint job. Regularly changing filters decreases the likelihood of equipment failure. It also helps ensure your spray booth is operating efficiently and keeps the production costs of your shop low.

Scheduled paint booth inspections — which include multi-point safety inspections — help identify booth issues and correct them to prevent future issues that can be costly and/or hazardous to your employees and facility. By ensuring your finishing equipment is running properly, paint booth inspections can help reduce costly downtime, prolong your equipment lifespan and allow for better quality paint finishes.

What is the Grate Lifting Tool?

Replacing exhaust filters in a downdraft paint booth is easy with the Grate Lifting Tool from GFS. This handy tool — available in two models to accommodate different styles of booth grating — does the heavy lifting for you, picking up exhaust pit grates so you can quickly change filters without straining your back or pinching your fingers between grates.

Simply slide the front prongs of the Grate Lifting Tool between grates, then step on the back portion of the tool to lift it up, while angling the top of it. The grates slide right out and can be rolled out of the way, allowing access to the exhaust filters. Once the filters are changed, the Grate Lifting Tool can be used to pick up the grates and roll them back into place.
