Duncan Aviation
📍 Provo, Utah
When Duncan Aviation needed an aircraft paint booth for a new MRO facility in Provo, Utah, Chad Doehring was faced with an easy decision. The Vice President of Operations had seen Global Finishing Solutions (GFS) Aircraft Paint Booths in action already, and was well aware of their efficiency and the high-quality finishes they consistently produce.
Please introduce your business and tell us your story:
“Duncan Aviation is the largest privately owned business jet support facility in the world. Our success has been possible because of our people and our company culture. We are committed to our industry and our 2,400 team members — we truly are one big family. We don’t just say it, we feel it. We are also fueled by our commitment to our customers; not only meeting but exceeding customer expectations. That is what drives our business and our passion.”
What services do you offer and what kinds of jobs do you usually perform?
“We perform airframe and engine inspections and repairs — ranging from minor to heavy repairs. We also do partial and full interior refurbishments, avionics and cabin entertainment installations and upgrades, and complete overall paint on the aircraft.”
What GFS equipment did you purchase and how has it benefited your business?
“In April 2019, installation was completed on a new GFS Aircraft Paint Booth at our MRO facility in Provo, Utah. The entire building at this facility is 57,000 square feet, and the paint booth takes up the majority of that space. With any installation, you have some bugs to work out, and we are through that now. The spray booth has been very good. We have had extremely high-quality paint jobs. A lot of it has to do with the booth’s design and construction in keeping debris out of the paint jobs by the way the airflow of the booth is configured. We are very pleased with the booth.”
How did you decide on GFS equipment?
“We have a GFS Aircraft Paint Booth installed at our paint facility in Lincoln, Nebraska. That paint booth is very similar to the one we installed in Provo. It has been a 20-year relationship between GFS and Duncan Aviation. GFS products’ quality and dependability stands on its own, which is why GFS equipment has been recommended by Tectonic Design and Build for all of Duncan Aviation’s paint and glue booth needs.”
What is your plan for the future of your business?
“We have the utmost confidence in GFS; it has been proven through our partnership together. This is why for any future MRO expansion plans, we will be looking to GFS for our paint and glue booth solutions. When an issue does arise, GFS is responsive with qualified people to address any issue, no matter how small. GFS’ products are superior in quality and the after-sale service from GFS is remarkable.”
