Global Finishing Solutions® (GFS) is a family-owned and operated company, focused on our family of exceptional employees. With this “people-first” approach, our employees have every chance to flourish and make their mark. Each month, we spotlight a different department within the company, from our manufacturing floor to our office buildings.
This month we sat down with the installation department at GFS. As a part of our field services department, the install crew works to make sure that the equipment we sell, manufacture and ship gets put into place and built to spec as the customer expects. Let’s learn a little more about the team behind the installations:
Department Name: Installation
Number of Employees: 21
Who They Are: This group is made up of hardworking individuals not afraid to work long hours to complete jobs on-time. Working all over the world, they are experienced travelers with an eagerness to see new places, while dedicating their time to installing new GFS booths for customers.
What They Are Known For: The team is responsible for installing GFS paint booths across the globe. This includes assembly, overseeing contracted work and coordinating with customers. Without them, many customers would not have a well-functioning paint booth.
How They Make a Difference: The GFS installation department, as a part of the startup and field services department, is the face of the company for projects installed by GFS. Their goals for every project are complete quality, on-time installations and to exceed the customers’ expectations.
Hidden Department Fact: GFS install employees live all over the United States; including Florida, Texas, California, Wyoming and Wisconsin. Their most recent installation jobs span across North America, as well as across the world; including India, Iraq, Japan and Pakistan. Team members may even spend months at a time living out of hotels in one or more areas of the world.

Michael Harrington is the install supervisor at GFS, responsible for managing the installation team, as well as other contractors, to effectively install GFS’ paint booths. Michael has worked with GFS since 2014 and has thoroughly enjoyed working with the people as well as the opportunities GFS presents. His role as install supervisor allows him to follow his passion of exploring new places and has given him unique opportunities to travel to various cities across the U.S. including Layton, Utah, Melbourne, Florida and Savannah, Georgia.
When asked what gets him out of bed in the morning, he responds with a laugh and a question: “Free breakfast?” followed by an answer we can all relate to – with the intention to better himself.
Working at GFS has been more beneficial to me than I could have ever thought. I took this job with a plan of working hard and making some decent money for a year or two. Instead, I have been able to make it into a career. During my time here at GFS I have learned and exercised countless skills that can be used on and off the job. Not to mention the friendships I have made that transcend the workplace. GFS has without a doubt helped me grow as a person. I have been introduced to many people and faced countless challenges. This diversity has helped me become who I am today.
GFS could not complete larger-scale projects without our installation team. With GFS’ ultimate focus on quality, the install crew makes it their top priority during every job. Michael says, “When we run into a problem in the field I enjoy trying to design something to make it easier in the future.”
Thank you for all of your hard work!
