Established in 1963, Marvin Engineering is one of five businesses under The Marvin Group’s umbrella. Today, The Marvin Group possesses some of the largest and most advanced machining capabilities in the United States. Still a small, privately owned manufacturing business, Marvin Engineering specializes in airborne weaponry and is one of the major suppliers of ejector racks, missile launchers and aircraft pylons for the Department of Defense and allies around the world.
During the summer of 2017, Global Finishing Solutions® (GFS) designed and installed finishing equipment for Marvin Engineering’s Southern California facility. Marvin came to GFS to replace their outdated equipment. With the success of their business and increased production, Marvin recognized that they needed to increase their throughput, eliminate rework, add automation and improve the overall quality of their performance coatings. They needed a partner that could develop and install a state-of-the-art paint facility while meeting some of the strictest air quality management regulations in the country.
GFS’ solution includes custom-designed booths that regulate temperature, humidity and airflow, and are configured as an end-to-end finishing system. To meet the air quality management regulations, GFS integrated three-stage filtration with HEPA filters rated at 99.99 percent efficiency at 0.3 microns and carbon filters to reduce VOCs.
GFS paint booths and finishing environments feature high-quality construction, excellent contamination control, precise temperature and humidity control, and industry-leading safety features — all providing improved throughput and a higher quality finish for customers. With decades of experience and a complete design and engineering staff, GFS is able to custom design state-of-the-art finishing solutions for original equipment manufacturers like Marvin Engineering.
