Department name: Second Shift Manufacturing
Number of employees: 26
Who they are: This group of employees come from all walks of life and age groups. They enjoy a steady work pace, have good communication skills and are helpful to new employees. Teamwork, safety and quality are their top priorities.
What they are known for: The team is responsible for industrial and auto refinish manufacturing, packing, assembly, skid building, crating, running turrets, break press operating, roll frames, welding, and pneumatic tools. Under the direction of Mark Makuski, this team operates during second shift at GFS.
How they make a difference: The GFS Second Shift Manufacturing team is very safety-oriented. According to Mark, they always have their eyes wide open to safety issues. They point them out as soon as they come up and are always looking for ways to make their work area safer for themselves and their teammates.
Hidden department fact: Employee ages in the department span 25 years.
Jeff S. is the Second Shift Brake Press Lead and Mark’s backup supervisor. He is responsible for leading, training, and supporting the other Brake Press Operators while communicating with the other shifts and departments. Jeff came to work for GFS to be closer to family after initially moving back to his hometown. Working at GFS has allowed him to improve his finances and meet new people. Jeff enjoys listening to his co-workers, paying attention to their needs and ultimately enjoys the different work that they do – there is never a dull moment.
Outside of GFS, the many members of the team like to hunt, fish and camp. They are a good-hearted, family-oriented group. Without the second shift manufacturing team, GFS would not be able to build most of the components found in our paint booths and finishing equipment, including the lights, fans, motors, control panels, filters and the enclosures themselves.
