With limited space for a new paint line, a global railcar manufacturer needed to partner with an equipment supplier capable of solving complex logistical challenges to deliver a customized solution.
The manufacturer again turned to trusted paint application systems integrator Anaerobia, combining Anaerobia’s expertise in integration engineering with the dependability of Global Finishing Solutions (GFS) equipment to create a high-tech finishing environment within their existing layout.

The project included two Large Equipment Paint Booths, a Batch Process Oven and six Hazardous Material Storage Buildings at their manufacturing facility in Sahagún, Mexico. With downdraft airflow in their booths, controlling overspray is easier when finishing tank and freight cars, so contamination is minimized.

Strict safety and quality controls at the plant, coupled with a lack of space for maneuvering, made installation of the GFS equipment a challenge. However, the versatility of the new paint line allows the manufacturer to finish any model of railcar they produce — and illustrates that space limitations are not insurmountable when met with intelligent engineering and the highest quality finishing equipment.
