Sister company to Global Finishing Solutions (GFS), Holland LP is an engineering-based company servicing the railroad and related industries. Since 1935, Holland has pioneered the delivery of comprehensive and progressive transportation solutions. With top-of-the-line flash-butt, thermite and electric technologies, Holland has established itself as the leader in the North American rail welding industry.
Headquartered in Crete, Illinois, Holland LP recently expanded its footprint — opening a second location in nearby University Park in 2016. The new 185,000-square-foot location serves as Holland’s primary manufacturing facility for rail welding equipment, rail and CWR handling and processing equipment, track testing services equipment, and railroad Maintenance-of-Way equipment for both internal and external customers.
Included in their manufacturing facility is a 64-by-20-foot Large Equipment Paint Booth, 20-by-12-foot Cleaning/Prep Room and 9-by-12-foot Industrial Paint Mix Room, all designed and built by Global Finishing Solutions.
Holland uses the equipment to paint miscellaneous heavy equipment, as well as cranes to lift their equipment or trailers. Because the size of the paint booth is so large, it also gives Holland the ability to paint large items, such as international shipping containers, trucks or even a 53-foot specialty trailer.
John Wisniewski, lead painter at Holland, says, “I don’t think many other paint booth manufacturers can make a quality paint booth at this size. It’s practical, it’s big, and it’s versatile.”
Depending on the size of the project, there are ample opportunities to get parts or projects painted.
“If you have a 53-foot trailer, it might be in the paint booth for two days,” Wisniewski adds. “Other days, you could have 200 parts go through the paint booth overnight. The number of options you have with a booth this size is great — you can work on big projects or a bunch of small stuff, all with different applications or processes.”
With the new equipment and a bright future, Holland LP is looking forward to incredible growth by expanding their offerings in track testing, railcar components and laser welding, just to name a few.
