A new building meant new finishing equipment earlier this year for Fix Auto Alameda. And owner Arthur Mercado wanted the best technology on the market to help ensure his 18-year-old business stays ahead of the competition.
“Cars are changing every year. We need to make sure we fix these cars the correct way and as efficiently as possible,” said Mercado, whose shop features an Ultra® XD Paint Booth, Ultra® XL Paint Booth, Ultra® XD Paint Mix Room, two Excel® Workstations and REVO Speed and REVO Rapid units from Global Finishing Solutions® (GFS).
Mercado chose GFS equipment primarily because of the local support of GFS distributor Precision for Collision.
“They have a big headquarters (two hours away) in Roseville, and they’ve got a team of guys for service, as well as a training center,” Mercado said. “I saw the value in terms of customer service and customer training.”
Benefiting from increased throughput with the new equipment, Mercado projects an additional $300,000 to $600,000 a month in repair work.
“We think the equipment can pay for itself within Year 1,” Mercado said, adding that despite the massive capital equipment investment and new facility, “it’s business as usual. It takes money to make money.”
