The aftermath of car accidents is often a confusing shuffle between a collision repair facility, your insurance company and a rental car center. It can be a lot of juggling, with a plethora of moving pieces.
Gurveer Randev is aiming to bring stability with the customer at top of mind at three Fix Auto locations that he owns in Calgary, Alberta. His customer service-based model features TD Insurance representatives and an Enterprise Rent-A-Car center on site, alleviating some of the immediate headaches of a car accident.
No other collision repair center in Calgary has insurance representatives working on site. In fact, TD Insurance is the only insurance company in Alberta that is involved in such a model.
“It is a unique concept because you don’t see much of that nowadays,” Randev said. “It just makes it easier. It is a seamless process.”
Randev opened his first Fix Auto location in 2019. This facility features two Ultra XD Paint Booths, an Ultra XD Closed-Top Open-Front (CTOF) Booth and an Ultra XD Paint Mix Room from Global Finishing Solutions (GFS).
“This GFS equipment is exactly what we need to accomplish our goals,” Randev said.
Randev experienced GFS equipment firsthand in 2018 when he visited GFS’ Center for Excellence training facility in Osseo, Wisconsin. He was joined by two Fix Auto executives, Manpreet Nahil and Lav Sekhon, as well as GFS distributors Bill Burns and Dan Giba of Calgary-based Booth Brothers.
Childhood friends of Randev, Sekhon runs Fix Auto Calgary’s operations, while Nahil is their top body man. Their personal relationships have now expanded into successful working relationships.
“It was a natural fit for us to be working together,” Randev said.
Randev brought plenty of business acumen to the table, having run his father’s homebuilding business, Luxuria Homes, for several years. Taking the leap into the collision repair industry was a no-brainer for Randev once he saw GFS equipment in person at the Center for Excellence.
“It gave us a higher comfort level for sure,” Randev said. “We feel like we are in good hands. GFS and Booth Brothers are doing unique things.”
