Maintenance is essential for every paint booth, but cross draft configurations must be sanitized regularly to avoid cross-contamination. The horizontal airflow doesn’t eliminate all of the overspray, dust, dirt and other contaminants from the working environment, making it easier for them to affect the finish quality.
It’s best to divide maintenance tasks into daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities. Your team should sweep the booth with non-sparking brooms every day to eliminate debris from the floor and walls. You should also use a tack rag to wipe down surfaces, such as the air hose, to remove loose particles before painting.
Your booth’s walls and floors should be cleaned weekly. Use a non-sparking scraper to remove overspray buildup on the walls, while a solvent-based cleaner is the best option for the floors. You should also clean your booth’s lighting fixtures every week to maintain proper visibility.
Monthly maintenance tasks include checking filters for visible debris buildup, the ventilation system for frayed wiring or other signs of wear, and the seals and doors for a proper seal. It’s a lot to consider, but expert help is available.
