Global Finishing SolutionsĀ® (GFS) prep stations are versatile finishing environments, designed to help body shops, collision repair centers and aircraft refinishers increase efficiency by accomplishing multiple tasks in one location. Prep Booth FAQs

Global Finishing Solutions offers three different types of prep stations:

Ultra Closed-Top Open-Front (CTOF) Booths provide an ideal environment for filling, priming, sealing, painting and curing vehicles in a single location. All CTOF Booths are listable by Electrical Testing Labs (ETL), ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.

Excel Workstation Booths are designed for compliance with the EPA’s 6H Paint Rule (40 CFR 63 Subpart HHHHHH), providing an all-in-one environment for sanding, priming and smaller paint jobs.

Aircraft Prep Booths provide hangars and aircraft repair shops with the means to improve productivity and quality for every paint job.

A prep station doesn’t require the same airflow as a paint booth, so paint prep stations are more energy-efficient for the same task. Likewise, handling stripping, sanding and masking outside your main paint booth reduces the levels of dust and other contaminants, keeping your booth cleaner.Ā

Prep stations help keep your paint booth reserved mainly for large paint jobs, while smaller touchups and prep work take place in a dedicated, code-compliant environment.

Any shop with a paint booth can benefit from a prep station, but some industries that gain the most include automotive refinishing, aerospace, manufacturing and defense. Each of these fields tackles large projects, ranging from heavy-duty truck painting to military equipment finishing, and the ability to work on multiple items simultaneously dramatically enhances productivity.

GFS has 50-plus years of paint booth experience, so we understand industry-specific use cases for booths and related accessories. Our local distributors are trained to help customers select the perfect paint prep station for their needs, and you’ll have access to expert support whenever you need it.Ā

Our vertically integrated manufacturing process gives us complete control over our products from materials and design to fabrication and installation, and we’re proud to be a leading U.S. manufacturer of prep stations across multiple sectors.Ā

We view every customer as a long-term partnership, not a relationship that ends once you purchase a prep station. Our service and preventative maintenance program entails quarterly or annual on-site visits to ensure your prep station booth remains in optimal working order. We also offer product training courses to help you make the most of your prep station.

Yes. Our in-house engineering team can design to spec, taking all factors into account. They leverage advanced technologies, such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling to simulate booth performance before fabrication, allowing us to develop customized solutions for any facility’s workflow, regulatory requirements or industry-specific features. If your facility requires permits, we can provide stamped drawings across all 50 U.S. states and Canada to facilitate approval.Ā

GFS engineers are also active participants in the advancement of industry-specific codes and standards. All of our products meet or exceed relevant industry-recognized codes and standards, including those of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the International Code Council (ICC). You’ll never worry about compliance when you choose Global Finishing Solutions products.
